|
|
I am trying to install gentoo 2.4 onto a Sparc Classic featuring two new (to the machine) Seagate ST14200N drives. The install generates many lines of error code starting with "scsi0: ERROR in channel 0". The install goes on until I receive a liveCD root prompt. Trying fdisk /dev/sda (or sdb) results in the same lines all starting with the scsi0: ERROR text. I don't believe the drives were pre-formatted for Sun (sunlabel), but it appears I can't get to a point of using fdisk. Any ideas? |

you can try to use full path device instead of links to them (sda sdb etc....)
fdisk /dev/..../bus0/target1/lu0
don't know if it will solve your problems. _________________ merci @+ |

I've been looking around without much luck: what would go in the '...' section?
**UPDATE**
I tried /dev/scsi/host0/targetx/lu0 (where x was both 3 and 2 based on scsi ID), but I get the same message of 'unable to open [the path I typed in], so that must not be the right path. Also, when I try fdisk -l, I get all the same lines of scsi0: I/O error on channel 0, id=x, lun=0 this repeats five times all ending with ASC=12, ASQ=0 |

if you get errors with fdisk -l you should have a hardware error or some disks with same harddriveID _________________ merci @+ |
