Hi,

I've just compiled my kernel in the gentoo install stage for AMD64, and the install manual tells me to copy the file bzimage to the boot directory, but the file path that bzimage is under does not exist, why? I think the path started with 'arch/x86_64/boot/bzimage' I cannot find arch anywhere!

How did you word the command to copy? The safest way is to use the full path name, e.g. /usr/src/linux/arch/x86_64/boot/bzImage, even though you are in /usr/src/linux to start with. By the way, did you inadvertently omit the initial "/" as you did in your initial post? If so, there you have it. Voila, as they say in Mexico. 8)

And another thing, it's bz[I]mage, not bz[i]mage. So in addition to not omitting the initial "/", spell bzImage correctly all the time, or, when you most need to spell it correctly, as now, you probably will not.

Don't forget that you can use the "tab" key to complete the path to a file, it will save you the spelling problem ...
