How to become a libertarian

I think that sums it up nicely.

Pretty much sums up the ideas of Libertarians...

Now I'm just waiting for the enlightened Rand diciples of the forum to come out bashing...

While I disagreed with it completely, I did find it funny anyway, in the same sorta way as the funroll-loops site.

It's good to see other people's points of view, especially when done in a satirical way.

Agreed. "Step One" has merit as a criticism (the other ones are weak attempts at irony), but Friedrich Hayek has already answered the question:

Sounds more like the philosophy of a pinko nutjob than a libertarian. There's tin foil hat all over that.

I like the Libertarians' "Obey the f'ing constitution, fools!" stance.

Yet, I also like certain moderately-socialist groups attempts to deal with the flaws in Capitalism in a sane manner, so that the whole system lasts longer.

What the hell am I???

I'm so confused :( :( :(

An American?

If you asked every American citizen whether they would like people to obey the Constitution, make Capitalism better, and make society last longer, the only negative votes would be from nutjobs.

The differences are in the details.

So Hayek went out on a limb in 1944 to say that centrally planned socialist states tended toward totalitarianism. Wow. What a stretch. His predictive powers are just amazing - indeed he was vidicated decades earlier by the soviets! I don't see how this is an attack on all forms of socialism, but I haven't read anything of his, so maybe he addresses that somewhere else.

I'm not trying to start an argument on the matter - I just thought it was funny. It sounds like extra credit #2.

Well, that vindicated Hayek, but his greatest contribution, IMHO, is his reasoning on efficient, adaptive markets. This is a stronger statement on regulation than the tendency toward political totalitarianism.
