EmelFM / Mplayer problems

Basically when mplayer is run through emelfm it seems like random keys are being pressed causing different mplayer options to be activated like brightness/contrast adjustment, skin selection window to open, etc. Eventually it comes to the button to pause the video, so naturally opening videos with emelfm is useless.

I haven't run into any mime-type problems with other apps I have through emelfm, like xmms, qiv, gnumeric, etc. This problem does not occur when mplayer is run from a shell prompt, aterm, or the menu, it runs like it should. It only borks through emelfm.

Any ideas? I'm thinking its an emelfm problem...
