I thought I would start a thread about minor annoyances in linux (nothing big just somthing you think could be solved easily). So just post em here and mabey somebody will know a fix.

I'll start off:
I switch between different window managers fairly often and everytime I switch gdm asks me if i want to make this my default session, but I never want to change my default, and if I did... I don't need some pop up to do it for me. Does anybody know how to turn this "feature" off.

No, I dont have any minor annoyances with linux :D

I have a few major ones with the worlds response to linux (ie lack off support from HW vendors) though...

cli programs that don't have a --help option
remembering which programs use -R as recursive and which use -r
ebuilds that don't have any kind of friendly helper output at the end that could use them (I should just patch em myself and stop complaining)
fairly large sourceforge projects with no homepages

I think I could go on for a while here ... :)

In addition, I really like man pages, and would be much happier if all programs had these.

On that note, man pages without examples annoy me.

And on that note, man pages that tell you what to do instead of how to do it.

I think this could become a very long unreadable thread... :-(
Sorry for being a bit obvious, but what stops you from fixing some things yourself?

I'm really not the kind of guy that respons to all critism with a "code it yourself" flame, but my personal motivation is: "shut up and code"... [or provide feekback in bugzilla] I'm coding on KMess btw, and report a lot of bugs and suggestions to bugs.kde.org for kde apps. I believe this makes my world a better place already.

Info files are outdated in today's world. Man pages or html files are my preferences.
