emerge -upv world and emerge -upvD world shows nothing, and then after a while i unmerge ck-sources because i am using nitro at the moment and don't want to update/install ck-sources every time a revision comes out.. after that, alsa-driver and gentoo-sources (2.4) want to get installed (i guess that the system think im not using a 2.6 kernel, so it need the alsa driver again..)

so i add sys-kernel/ck-sources-2.6.8.1-r8 to /etc/portage/profile/package.provided, but portage still wants to emerge alsa-driver and gentoo-sources!! i can only avoid this by adding gentoo-sources-2.4.27-r1 (and alsa-driver) to the same file, but that's not what i want, i want to provide a 2.6 kernel so the system knows i don't need alsa-driver.. is this file just to provide speficic packages and doesnt keep deps, or does the system REALLY thing those packages are installed?

please tell me how to fix this using portage, not editing manually system files to make the system think i installed it.. i want to solve this the portage way.

thanks

finally i solved it with virtuals:

/etc/portage/profile/virtuals
Code:
virtual/linux-sources sys-kernel/ck-sources
virtual/alsa sys-kernel/ck-sources
