I have a v210 and I'm using the 2004.1 universal cd. I boot, tell it boot cdrom, enter gentoo-2.4-smp at the promt and get this:
Code:
Loading initial ramdisk (913487 bytes at 0x40C00000)...
Fast Data Access MMU Miss
{0} ok

Why is it gaking?

TIA!

Nope.
I wasn't going to install Gentoo on this box anyway. I put in new drives and it kept crashing the installer, so I thought I'd use the Gentoo cd to get in and explore. I did some google'n and found lot of people had this issue and it was never the same thing! Someone had a ram problem. I did a reset-all and probe-scsi-all before boot cdrom with the slowaris cd and it worked fine. Never tried it with Gentoo again.

Good luck!

It may not be much help, but I got this from a Solaris 8 install cd. It appeared to be a problem with the server booting from CD-ROM. I was able to jumpstart the server just fine. WTF??!!??

Hrm, 2004.2 *should* be more reliable than 2004.1 when it comes to the MMU bug. I'd be more inclined to blame physical media, since 2004.2 is using the tried-and-trusted silo 1.3.x series rather than the "Ben says it works but it doesn't on a few boxes" 1.4.x...

I am trying to load Solaris 9 OS and it gives me the following error:

ok, boot cdrom -s
Loading ...
Boot Device: disk File and Args:
Fast Data Access MMU Miss

I am currently using a burn-copy of Solaris 9/04 on the Sunfire v480 box.
