Hello

I have a different framerates playing single mode or multiplayer. Somehow the framerate is limited to 50 fps if i play ut2003 online. In Single Player Mode i have framerates around 100fps. Same maps, same settings. Is this related to the "minimum desired framerate" in ut2003.ini? Are the servers to slow?

thanks for your answers.

Thomas

My System: AMD 2400, Geforce 4400, 1GB Ram

If i turn "stat fps" on, i get 120fps in small an ca. 90-100 in large maps.

Actually, I read that's a new "feature" to make online play better or some such thing. Here is a clip from the README-2136 file:

Networking:

- added option to cap framerate in netplay (on by default). This improves
client smoothness by keeping client physics updates more in sync with
server. Its controlled in your UT2003.ini file in the [Engine.LevelInfo]
section by bCapFramerate.

So there you go!

But why do you care, If you got 50 fps the whole time then you will see no difference with 100 fps

I read somewhere that the human eye can only see 70fps. So that extra 30fps is being lost by the eye. Personally I have yet to see any difference from 70 to 100 but I notice the difference from 50 to 70. Odd.

see it is not the eye that can see, but the mouse can see!, the fluidness of a game, the higher fps the better. but from 150 to 200 i dont think any body can tell or see a difference, but i do know this, if a game is getting 100+ fps. and then all the sudden (with out my knowing) somebody sets the max fps to 70, i can tell for sure :) but that is just me, my eys are funny, i am the guy that would about fall down walking down the hall at school because the scool droped the bugit and rplaced some of the lighs in the all way at the school to 60hz ones, it would be like a strobe light to me, on off on off on off, would also make me sick feeling.

that really depends on what the game is doing with these frames.
but the human eye doesnt see as much as 70 frames / s. Actually it cant see more than 25. (thats why the movies are @ 24 images / second). but even though you see 25 different images in a second, the game does 70 updates in one case, and 100 in the other, so you might, or might not see the difference, just depending on when the game does the update...
