I do believe this rates at the same level as discussing cracks and such, which I'm pretty sure are forbidden in this forum. Might want to check the rules.

while we'r on the warez topic, people who use linux are often using it becouse it's free, and they aren't into illegal copying of software, someone should write a long essay linking windows users to BAD warez people and linux as the savior of the software industry |

Heh, agreed. I used to be a morally deprived warez monkey myself, then I switched to Linux and found that everything I need can be had for free anyway, such as the operating itself and an office program. I've been enlightened and no longer feel the compulsive need to steal software in some self-rightous crusade to fight the man.
I pay for games now, too Feels good for me, and I'm sure it feels good for the developers. |

It was "leaked" early without id's permission. It was due to the carelessness of some ATI employees, and id is not happy about it. |

Nope. Read Carmack's response here. |

you make me laf. nothing is leaked anymore. its called free unofficial alpha to beta level testing of unoptimised code in order to see how much optimising is needed so said software can run on a computer that will be available by the time said software is scheduled to be released testing. _________________ Searched the web for zerogeny.

Yes it was leaked, by ATI when they had their hands on the Doom3 Alpha during E3. ATI has leaked many other games too.
Its called warez. Its ID's game, they own it, not you. You don't make the decisions for the game. They have CLOSED betas and CLOSED alpha specifically for testing the game before it is ready for primetime. The game only has 3 maps and doesn't even have sound. Its nowhere near complete and is not ready for public testing.
Its not for testing. I seriously doubt the people who have copied this game have been e-mailing ID and reporting bugs. Give me a break. |

That's why they should've given ATi a Linux demo--If they had a bunch of Linux users pirating it, they might at least get some useful feedback instead of 'ThIs GaMe SuXX0rz.' |

They shouldn't of leaked it in the first place. From what I understand ID had to throw the "demo" together quickly just to get it working smoothly for E3. |
