Ok. first off I have no idea what's gone wrong with Gnome and I have a long list of things that have gone wrong. I started a session up and noticed that when I start a program up, (really any program) I no longer have the bar where I can minimize, maximize and close out the program. Also the program manager in the upper right hand corner no longer keeps up with what programs are running. The other semi-major problem is I only have one virtural desktop and no matter what I do to change the number of virtual desktops I always come back to one. My first solution was to upgrade to the latest version however didn't work. Also tried removing all of the .gnome* folders (kept backups just in case) to see if it was a screwed up setting. Again nothing. So right now I'm fresh out of ideas as to what to do. |

If you can open a terminal window, try running metacity again, if it does not load, there should be an output .Let us know. _________________ "Yep linux is an alternative. Windows on the other hand isn't even an option"

Sorry it took so long for me to reply. Getting the house worked on. Anyway I started metacity up and it works just like it is supposed to. Thanks a lot koroumel. |
