All over the internet I have found people who have wrestled with the 3dfx voodoo2 and succeeded to run an X-server using only a voodoo2, i.e.: display a 2D picture out of it.
Now please, community, tell me HOW you do it!
AFAIK, the 'tdfx'-driver in X11 only works for Voodoo3 and Banshee,
and the suggestions of using the "glide" driver doesn't work, there is no such glide driver.
Suggestions would be most appreciated!

Yes it is, but it's somehow possible to use 2D with it. I had some drivers for windows once. Don't remember the url. _________________ MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum 54G / Winchester 3200+ 2.5Ghz / 1GByte GSkill PC4400 275Mhz 2.5-3-3-7

Hi
Ahh that's very nice, but my Voodoo1 and Voodoo2 boards are all in the hardware heaven
Only my Voodoo3 3000 Board is still running in my Gentoo Server Box. And I was a really big 3Dfx and voodoo fan.
So perhaps u can find a solution here http://www.voodoofiles.com/
Good luck!

Hey man,
Was browsing through the 2.6 kernel config the other day, and came across Code: | Device Drivers -> Graphics Support -> 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics (sstl) support | (You'll have to have framebuffer devices enabled in Graphics Support...)
It's not tdfxfb (that's the option above) and it says in the help "WARNING: Do not use any application that uses the 3D engine (namely glide) while using this driver."
So, I haven't had a chance to get out my v2, but is this the sort of thing you were after? This should give you a framebuffer console malarkey, and then maybe with a bit of persuading X11 could be persuaded to use the fb driver on it.
HTH,
Jesu |
