My sparc install was going wonderfuly until I tried to install xorg-x11
Result:
Code:
root@iedul69 ben # emerge xorg-x11
Calculating dependencies -
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "virtual/libc".
I have emerged portage, gentools, metadata and mirrorsync apart from that everything is as per the universal liveCD stage 3 install.
I am guessing it is because libc is not properly installed or portage is not configured to find it, as I can see libc.so.6 and libc-2.3.2.so in /lib but am confused as to what to do to fix it. I was going to try and reinstall it but am not sure what version to use as most posts and instructions refer to x86 versions.
Any suggestions ?
PS originally posted in portage, before I found Sparc land ! |

You might try 'emerge sync'; if that doesn't fix it, 'emerge glibc' should. That's where 'virtual/libc' should come from.
Do the 'emerge sync' fisrt in any case, then you will get current versions for everything else
afterwards.
