Hello all,
I've been trying to get openafs-client working on a machine that runs reiserfs. As you may or may not know, you can't run the openafs cache on a reiserfs filesystem becasue openafs works directly with the inodes, and reiserfs doesn't have inodes.
Anyways, after a few hours of banging my head against the wall, I figured out how to get it working....just run the cache on a ext2 loopback partition.
Obviously, I should warn you that the performance is *slightly* less than running the cache natively, and you should do this at your own risk etc etc etc bla bla bla, but it works just great for me.
I'm not really sure why this wasn't suggested in the documentation or faqs, but it saved me a lot of headache, and I thought I'd share. |

Can you "howto?"
Can I set up a file, as a disk, and format it to ext2, and loop-it-back? If so, can you tell me HOWTO? |
