Hi,
I'm looking for a document management system to build up a knowledgebase.
I have hundreds of documents (dvi, ps, pdfs, docs, html, ppt-files,...) and I'm looking for a software to manage all these files. It would be great if one could do a full-text search on all the documents (perhaps with glimpse support) and sort them in different categories. Moreover it should be possible to link them to other categories as well for easy browsing.
Is there anything like this for linux?
Greetings,

Hi,
I saw something related to this a couple weeks back in a Zope mailing list. It's a document management system that is a web application. http://www.zope.org/Members/Kaivo/DocumentLibrary
This probably works on linux and windows. Let me know if it's any good, because I haven't had a chance to look at it.
Regards,

There is one I've been messing with called "no-sod". Well, thats the framework, but it's a document management system that uses mysql as it's backend. It seems pretty decent to me.
www.no-sod.org. |

Your best choice would be Zope ( http://www.zope.org ) WITH the Collaborative Portal Server (CPS) application who does all that.
It's first language is french but has I18 support. Great CMS app in the like of Intewoven or Vignette but GPL

Full text indexing is done for Office, Openoffice, PDF, ... and can be extented for other types.
It separate the work on documents (versionning, undo, even workflow) and their publication with 'virtual publishing' which is what you need for multi categorising.
And for that price you have portal features too.
Only bad thing : it doesn't make coffe. |
