I was having a crashing problem with the new package that was solved by making sure the sound backend was OSS and not ALSA. So if you have a crashing problem try that out. _________________ RipOff, a CD Ripper for Linux |

Cheers for this ebuild, installed perfectly. I tried watching a wmv (this: http://www.penguinbomb.com/omniscaper/WIPS/trench.wmv ) and i get video but no audio. If I watch it in 64bit mplayer i get audio and no video. Anyone else have this problem? I did change my output device to oss like so in ~/.xine/config:
Quote: |
# audio driver to use
# { auto null oss none file }, default: 0
audio.driver:oss

Wow, thanks for this ebuild, you really saved my ass. Since I wanna migrate from my Celeron-Notebook to my AMD64-Desktop, playing wmvs was one of my remaining things that didn't work.
I hope, you keep upgrading the package from time to time.
Not that I wanna complain, but the only thing annoying me is the lack of ALSA support. Since I'll send my notebook to the manufacturer for warranty reasons (Just an advice: Never buy Gericom!), I'll also install Gentoo on my old Duron computer. So if you could give me a detailed explanation of what you did to make your package, I might be able to play around with ALSA or even can update to a newer version. |

It's not that hard to make if you have a 32bit box around, just make sure they're setup similiarly. For example the package broke at one point, when it was compiled on an older 32bit box, and tried to be run on a 64bit box with NPTL. So pretty much same or close to same toolchain like glibc, gcc, etc, and with NPTL on. Differences probably won't be as much of a problem like we had in the past though.
When building them you need to do it manually so you can run the ./configure script and choose where you want to install stuff to. So you need to run it like this "./configure --prefix=/opt/xine32-bin"
I've also added the /etc/env.d/69curl file, so that it adds /opt/xine32-bin/lib to the search path for libraries.
Just tar the whole thing up to make a package out of it. In order to make it put all the files in the right place, you'll need to make a fake directory structure. If you're going to use the binary ebuild guide posted in the forums, you'll want to assume it'll be untarred from / _________________ "we should make it a law that all geeks have dates" - Linus |
