Hi,

I recently purchased ASUS P4P800-VM along with Intel 2.4Ghz, 800FSB processor. I am trying to install Gentoo Linux on it from rc4 livecd, but it reports "no such device" when I do "modprobe e100" or "modprobe eepro100". This is the message from lspci:

On the other hand, here is the message from Redhat 9 Resuce mode.

Don't know whether that's the same motherboard, but I read ( http://linuxquestions.org/questions/history/72226 ) that you apparently need kernel 2.4.21, there is also a discussion about which kernel options to set (IDE, DMA etc).

I just put together a new pc with the same mobo and had the same problem running the smp kernel (which is 2.4.20) I tried the 2.4.21 from the 1.4 livecd and the network card was identified successfully.

I got this to work fine in the 2.6.7 vanilla by compiling in the eepro100 (under network drivers)
