Hello!
Sorry that my first post has to be a problem...
I recently made a LSR install from Gentoo 1.4 with a friend. All went well (well... you know, hehe).
But alas, comes that time when a linux newbie is confronted with his first problem... ALONE! (AIEEEEEEEEEEEEE)
Well, i wanted to play some Armagetron, and so I wrote 'emerge armagetron' . All started to go smoothly untill it stopped displaying that there was some problem involving SDL: it couldn't find version 1.2.4.
Inquiring around (my friend who installed the LSR wasn't available), someone told me that SDL was kind of a Directx), so i wrote a 'emerge -s sdl' to see what I could find.
After some own-mindless deduction, I decided to go first for the libraries, so I wrote 'emerge libsdl' and all went fine. but, aftet thar I tried to 'emerge sdl-gfx' and I got the same error that I got in armagetron... I tried with some of the others, and got the same... even some of them said that sdl 1.2.0 couldn't be found.
Is this a kernel-related problem?
Is there a specific emerge order for the drivers to be installed?
Am I doing nothing at all that helps?
HELP ME! |

Maybe it helps if you type 'ldconfig' first?
Just a quick guess. |

No it's not kernel related and sdl ain't a driver, it's a library, package libsdl. after the error maybe you could check if there's a file /var/tmp/portage/arm*/work/?????/config.log and look if it reveals some more info on why it's failing.
Cya lX.
Ps. don't have arm???(what's it called) installed, but have had similar problems with installed libraries not being detected. (solved by using LDFLAGS=...... missing libraries needed by lib... library). _________________ "Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over.", Frank Zappa |

Thanks everyone for helping me.
The command 'ldconfig' did the trick!
Now I can slide down confortably on tux racer and wack at the A.I. players on Armagetron.
Thanks everyone! |
