ripping problems

1.) dvdrip installing problems:
i installed (over and over again) dvdrip, and gdk-pixbuf but when i start dvdrip it fails 'cos Pixbuf.pm is missing, and it truly is. So I re-emerged pixbuf, but haven't got any Pixbuf.pm on my drive...

2.) so I went manually with transcode, and tried to rip few dvd's
divx went fine, but xvid segfaults. now I want to encode with xvid, so I went to their site, got a tarball, installed it, re-emerged transcode and it still crashes.

I would hate to boot to windows-xp for ripping, now that i got some nice uptime =)

Not sure if you are tied to dvdrip for any reason, but I use drip and it works extremely well for me. Maybe worth a shot.
