I have finnished emerging gnome and gdm, but it didn't create an /etc/init.d/gdm entry (?) (nor /etc/conf.d/gdm, but there is an /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf), so i cannot add it with "rc-update add gdm default"!
I know i could (theorically) write an /etc/init.d/gdm script, but i want to know if it's normal, or if it's just a bug.
gdm version: 2.4.11, emerged today.

I believe you're supposed to add the xdm script on start up
"rc-update add xdm default"
...or something like that. In your /etc/rc.conf, you specify what display manager you use....
The xdm script has a lot of logic coded into it, so it'll set you up the way you want

So the /etc/init.d/xdm script reads /etc/rc.conf and then loads the specified *dm? Hehe, clever thing... i was used to debian style of having the 3 scripts...
Sorry, i had read the desktop guide (Actually i have printed it), but i didn't remember that..
Thanks!
UPDATED: Everything is fine, but if start gdm using /etc/ini.t/xdm start, gdm runs in English, while if i just run gdm from the command line, GDM runs in Spanish (my default language)
I have configured my language using /etc/profile and exporting:
LANG="es_ES@euro"
LC_ALL="es_ES@euro"
LANGUAGE="spanish"
Maybe i should start a new thread about this... |
