I can't get dvd to work under gnome. I tried mplayer(witch used it's own version of libdvdread/libdvdcss), xine, vlc and ogle gives this message:
Code: | Debug[ogle_nav]: Opening DVD at "/dev/dvd"
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.3 for DVD access
libdvdread: Could not open device with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/dvd for reading |
/dev/dvd is a symbolic link made by devfs to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0
If I wan't, I can mount /dev/dvd to /mnt/dvd, and I can read everything from the dvd. the dvd is unmounted when I try to play it with ogle.
Sometimes, It works and I can watch the dvd. but the moment I stop watching and close ogle, I get the same error message as shown above when I try to start it again.
I think I tried everything, and I'm beginning to think It has something to do with the hardware (sony dvd-rom ddu220e), however in windows XP it works great!! does anyone have a idea how to solve the problem? |

Oke, this problem seems to be solved. I've tried a dvd-player from an other computer in this system and it works great. I think I need een firmware update then, but I can't find a firmware update for the sony dvd-rom ddu220e anywhere. |
