Hi Folks,

I've got everything else up and running fine. I've installed XFree86 4.2.1 without any problems. I'm trying to do an "emerge kde" and I'm getting errors. Whenever it gets to gimp is causes a "reconfig" error and then goes back to the command line.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Gavin

I am having the same problem at the moment. Gnome compiled just fine though, but I still prefer KDE.

I've got XFree86 working and I'm just compiling gnome. Does anyone have any ideas why Gimp would cause problems? It does the same thing if I do an "emerge gimp" and it halts on the same section. The exact error message is;

Quote:
autoreconf-2.53a: 'aclocal.m4' is updated
configure.in:42:warning: AC_CANONICAL_HOST invoked multiple times
You should update your 'aclocal.m4' by running aclocal.
libtoolize: 'config.guess' exists: use --force to overwrite
libtoolize: 'config.sub' exists: use '--force' to overwrite
libtoolize: 'Itmain.sh'exists: use '--force' to overwrite
autoreconf-2.53a: 'aclocal.m4' is unchanged
configure.in:959: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION
autoreconf-2.53a: autoconf failed with exit status: 1 at /usr/bin/autoreconf-2.53a line 475
DEBUG: working directory is
/var/tmp/portage/gimp-1.2.3-r2/work/gimp-1.2.3/

If anyone can make head or tails of this error and let me know how I can fix it that'd be wicked.

I got this working and compiled by doing the following;

emerge rsync
emerge -up system (updated everything apart from pam-login)
emerge -u gettext
emerge clean

and this got it working..

hope that helps someone..

why on earth is there 3 threads about this? Three different threads, same issue. There's also a really cool thing called the gentoo bugzilla, where people can solve gentoo bugs! Works better than this forum.
