maybe you have to be root to have access to dvdrip, or have not the path to it. to see if it is installed make a as root, and then , also as root |

i've tried what you said... But no luck here...
the locare command shows many files... but i think none of them are executable...
Maybe the one in /usr/local/scripts
that is called dvdrip...
i've tried it and it give me this message:
justone /simone # /usr/local/scripts/dvdrip
Missing the following programs.
Please install them and configure your PATH:
dr_splitpipe, dr_progress
at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/Video/DVDRip.pm line 0
Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/scripts/dvdrip line 29.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/scripts/dvdrip line 29.
it seems it hasn't been installed... So why my emerge dvdrip didn't worlked correctly? |

i don't have a /usr/local/scripts/ dir so i can't tell, but if there are to many "line" from locate you may use Code: | locate dvdrip | less | after all i think it should be located somewhere in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin. or you can have a look at the dvdrip dir (i think you can find out by looking at the locate output) for something like a bin dir (it's possible that dvdrip was not copied or the link was not made) |

I can't help, just a few hints:
You don't have to be root to start dvdrip.
dvdrip is installed in /usr/bin and it is a perl-script (with the name "dvdrip")
I do also not have a /usr/local/scripts directory.
It seems that "emerge dvdrip" didn't work properly. |

I believe the command is actually
# dvd:rip
at least that is what I have to use on my system.
cheers,

i have never used this program but running '#emerge -s dvdrip' i saw a couple of things...it says that 'dvd::rip is a graphical frontend for transcode'
the interesting thing after reading this thread was the :: adn that transcode is a pkg that must be installed too...so excuse me if this is just beyond stupid but make sure transcode 6.0 is installed and maybe try #dvd::rip |

I was wrong. The command was dvdrip and not dvd:rip. However, I just did and emerge -u dvdrip and now dvdrip errors out on the initialization sequence when I try to run it. I'll try to re-emerge it tonight and let you know how it goes. |
