|

I've seen problems similiar to mine on boards but I'm hoping someone here can offer me a solution. Whenever I play Urban Terror, everything works perfectly for a while(1hr-2hrs) then everything slows done and my FPS drop to near zero. I quit the game and run glxgears and my score is 400 instead of the normal 1450 fps. If I wait a little while, things go back to normal, the glxgears score is again 1450 and I can play UT for awhile with no problems.
I have an ATI 9000 M9 with 64M and I use the DRM drivers include in the kernel because the ati-drivers kept crashing KDE for some reason, I could start X but not KDE.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you need more info, let me know what it is and I'll post it. |

Is it a laptop? It sounds like the cpu is being throttled back due to heat.
It is advisable when using laptops to place them on top of some books or a something, so the air can flow properly.
If this is so it will probably also do this when running any cpu intensive task for a long period of time. |

It is a laptop. I can check the temperature using acpi but I don't know what a normal temperature range would be. What is normal?? I'll check on that next time I play and it slows down. I didn't even think of it. Thanks. |
