Are anyone having success with enabling support for their nVidia USB2 controller, in 2.6.x kernels? If I compile EHCI (USB 2) support statically into the 2.6.7-ck5 kernel, everything freezes after the nVidia controller is discovered at bootup. With kernel 2.6.7-mm6 I got a little further, but the kernel oopsed when I plugged in the device (a Western Digital external harddrive). Currently I have it working with a 2.6.6 vanilla kernel, but the kernel oopses if I don't unmount the drive before rebooting. The motherboard is Asus A7N8X to be specific, I also have an nVidia graphics card (I understand this combination can be problematic).

I don't have any usb2.0 devices to test, but I don't have any problems booting with EHCI support on my nforce2 board with both gentoo-dev and ck-sources. I've got OCHI and EHCI built-in with usbhid and usb-storage as modules (autoloaded). I've had a little trouble with HID and usb-storage in the past and this setup seemed to work best for my board.

I got usbhid and usb-storage built-in, maybe I should modularize those to see if it makes a difference .. You're using 2.6.7 kernels (ck and gentoo)? Do you have an nVidia graphics card btw?

Yeah, it's worked with 2.6.7-ck5 and 2.6.7-gentoo-r8. I've got an ATi card (R8500).

I got the same problem with the 2.6.7 kernel....

I have tried it on 3 different systems and I get the same problem everytime...

It boots up to:
Quote:

it gets up the ieee1394 and just hangs there.
