Hi all,

I just rescued my computer from the brink three times in a row and now everything is functioning. However, a new quirk seems to have possessed my box and it's a wee annoying.

If I log in using putty over ssh, the prompt for the user name comes up in no time, but there is a noticeable delay in the password prompt (winscp thinks the system timed out and asks if you want to try again). There are no delays, etc. when I am logged in, so it's annoying and slightly weird.

Does anybody have any ideas on what might be causing this and, most importantly, how to deal with the problem? If you need me to post any configuration files, let me know.

Best,

Alex

No, I should have been more clear. It happened when I tried to get into my system by hooking up another computer to my firewall router.

Best,

Alex

Ok, I'll try that next time I bring the laptop home with me.

Thanks,
