I emerged OpenOffice last night, and now when I try to execute it, it gives me the following error:
Code:

JDenis@jdenis007 JDenis $ ooffice
running openoffice.org setup...
/usr/bin/ooffice: /opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1/program/setup: No such file or directory
setup failed.. abort

I checked the /opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1 directory, and there is no program folder in ther, which seems really weird to me. There is a link called setup to the /program/setup file, but as I said, it doesn't exist...
I breifly searched this forum and on google and found nothing relevant to this problem.
Anybody got an idea on how to fix this?

I've always done the user install via /opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1/program/soffice

Give it a shot!

I'd love to, but I have no program subdir in there!!
It's as if part of the program was missing from my system.
the only thing I have ine the /opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1 is :
Code:
bash-2.05a$ ls
setup  spadmin  user

I was having a problem with the openoffice merge until i figured out my tmp dir was running out of space. sometimes it would lock the pc up and other times i would get errors similar to other peoples postings. Then i changed the PORTAGE_TMPDIR to a partition with lots of space and the emerge goes through fine, however im faced with the same problem expressed in this thread, no /opt/openoffice.org1.1.1/program dir which means /opt/openoffice.org1.0.1/setup or spadmin which are links to files in that non-existant program dir dont do anything when run, nothing of use in the user folder either, has anyone solved this issue? not sure where to go from here.

I gave up on finding a solution to this..
I unmerger openoffice and emerged openoffice-bin(not sure if this is the exact name..) It's open office already compiled. It worked perfectly.

/usr/bin/ooffice: line 92: 31259 Aborted /opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1/program/setup -R:/etc/openoffice/autoresponse.conf
setup failed.. abort

Neither of the OO work here.

This is sad :(

Do you guys happen to be running fluxbox 0.1.13? If you are then that is the problem. Check the fix here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=14220.

A simplier fix is just to go back to Fluxbox 1.12.
