radeon + shared memory

on my old laptop with "shared memory" I could adjust how much I shared, from 32mb to 2mb, which was plenty, now I have a new laptop, 256mb ram, and the radeon card "shares" 64mb, and I can not find any way to adjust it.... that's not sharing, that's stealing.

anyone with a radeon laptop that can adjust how much they "share" somehow? I've been looking for a bios upgrade, but couldn't find anything interesting
