Ok, one more problem to install Gentoo if you're behind a firewall.
If you already instaled Gentoo you may have "/etc/wget" and in this folder you have "wgetrc" configuration file that tels wget how to do and how to connect ( proxy ).

At the beggining of the instalation you don't have this folder with this config. file so you need to make ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES and from some reason DOESN'T work for me!? :-(
I mean that i exported PROXY, HTTP_PROXY, FTP_PROXY to ENVINONMENT but doesn't help.

I need to know if i can to make the "/etc/wget" folder and to build inside it the "wgetrc" config. file by my self.

Or, if i can to explicit the proxy in wget command line....
Many Thanks
Pacman

Yes, absolutely, though I think you really want /etc/wgetrc and not /etc/wget/wgetrc. (could be mistaken, though)

Nope.
The file "wgetrc" seats under path:
/etc/wget/
this mean that if you want to edit it:
#nano -w /etc/wget/wgetrc

I already saw it on other gentoo linux.

Check out this post regarding how I did this:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=872&highlight=

The reference for RSYNC_PROXY in the documentation is only for when using "emerge rsync". Setting the "http_proxy" and "ftp_proxy" as well as editing the wgetrc file is for moving to stage 2 and bootstraping.

hello,

I have not tried gentoo linux yet, but I would like to know if it's possible to install it with only an http proxy (my proxy doesn't allow ftp :(

so, is http and ftp redondant for download, or does I need them together to get a working gentoo ?

Yes -- it works fine. That's how I installed (and maintain) one of my gentoo boxes. Obviously don't define any ftp mirrors in your make.conf file. :)
