The Gods surely love Greece this year. First the EURO 2004 and now the Olympic Games. It must feel great to be Greek now. :)

I was eating lunch at a Lebanese restaurant last time around in Fort Worth and got to watch the flame travel by on its way to Utah. Some of those Sidney pics from a few years back made me want to take up smoking just so I could light one up.

Agreed. It must be nice to not having to risk torture at the hands of some insane f*ckhead if you do lose, though...

I believe that is called an incenitive!
Maybe more atlethes should have had that threath over their head? LOL Maybe some of the overpaid and underworked atlethes would have performed better.... (No I'm not serious, I need this dsiclaimer since some people don't have any form of humor and would complain if I didn't!)

The biggest suprise of these games will be if the Greeks gets everything ready before the games starts!

It seems as though the 2004 Olympics are going to be the number one target for a lot of hackers. things could get interesting with this.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing how well our athletes do. We have a few world champions in our team, even one world record holder. I'm just undecided on whether I should put a few dollars on the team to bring home more than 3 golds

Just to know, the Athens Olympics games just have just started. To be accurate they just have finished,15 minutes ago. There were some women's ??? football games and there weren't in Athens.
First results.
Usa-Greece 3-0
Germany-China 8-0
Brazil-Australia 1-0
Sweden-Japan 0-1.
The last one just 500 meters from my house.
Its a cool breeze out there, coming from the sea.
Good luck to you all.

A bad start for the Swedish women's team. It seems like the 0-4 game against Norway recently wasn't a one time thing after all. I really hope that our other athletes will perform better.

I found it quite strange that the games have started before the official "start".

Btw, at least we won. :D

Yeah, I was surprised at how much Germany beat China with, since it wasn't too long ago the chinese team was THE one eveyone wanted to beat. And the Swedes played really crappy today, sadly :?

That is normal. In all areas where the competition takes more than a week or 2 (as is the case with football and other team-sports), the events starts a day or 2 prior to the official opening. It has been like this for many olympiads.

One Chinese fan said this:

Chinese are only capable of playing around with small balls, eg. table tennis

I would like to believe this.

any way, that kinda score is not acceptable at all. they just gave up half way of the game, no matter what, as a sportsman, you should never give up half way, u fail, u should fail with honor.
