In booting the Sparc Blade 100 with the Gentoo 1.1 iso (latest that I could find!), I received this message:

\
Remapping the kernel... done.
Booting Linux...
pbm_intmap_match: bus 02, devfn 01: IRQ
[00020100.00000000.00000000.00000002] not found in interrupt-map
Please email this information to davem@redhat.com
Program terminated
Type boot, go (continue), or login (command mode)

To which David S. Miller said:

Gentoo needs to upgrade their kernels to something more
recent, this debugging message is due to a kernel bug
I fixed in 2.4.x some time ago :)

Is there a newer revision of .iso that someone has created? Otherwise I guess i'll have to muck with netbooting 1.4..

Hi,

We are currently working on a new installation CD image. In the meantime, I suggest you check out the Debian 3.0 Sparc rescue CD image. Several people have had luck installing Gentoo on that (though I can't say if any of them were on blades).

I ended up netbooting my Sun Blade initially off the Debian 3.0 sparc netboot. It was a pain in the ass to set the netboot up, but it worked well. Afterwards, I used the built-in installer to partition up the harddrive and then dropped to a shell to follow the Gentoo install docs. Haven't had a problem since, although the machine is primarily a console machine.

Hey Krt,

Sure, we can always use a few extra testers. The easiest way to help out is to drop by #gentoo-sparc on irc.openprojects.net and see what's up.

Thanks!

I can't get the Debian 3.0 sparc CD to boot either. I'm going to go for netbooting after I rebuild my laptops gentoo install (do not mess with filesystems and new kernels at 3am if you're not used to being up at 3am :-)
