We have two Ultra 60s sitting around here in the office doing nothing, so I decided to grab one and install Gentoo Sparc on it. Here's some information about the machine:

So what should I do with this machine? And the other one? The other machine has only one processor and half a gig of RAM. Same hard drive situation. I'm open to any and all suggestions, as long as they are things that are normally OK to do on a corporate network. Even if it was just running Setiathome or something, that would be fine. I just hate to see hardware sitting around doing nothing. |

these would be idea workstations / demo-boxes to show employees who might be interested what you can do with linux and non x86 hardware, maybe to demonstrate to managment that non x86 is good, etc etc.
you could use one to run nagios
extra shared HD space never hurts either.
maybe a backup server for some network service like DNS or whatnot? _________________ -Tim Smith |
