badram/bd-claim are dropped for now, can be added anytime if needed.
subfs is dropped for the favor of ivman, it works perfectly now.

v31b doesn't like the new scheduler changes in mm5.
if you get any "weird" driver behavior, reverse bk-acpi.patch :
Code:

cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.7-love5
wget -O - -q ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.6/2.6.7/2.6.7-mm5/broken-out/bk-acpi.patch | patch -p1 -R

ebuild : http://oneofone.limitlessfx.com/love-sources/love-sources-2.6.7-r5.ebuild
patch : http://oneofone.limitlessfx.com/love-sources/2.6.7-love5.bz2

update patch is available :
2.6.7-mm5-np.gz | new nicksched
love_ppm.patch.bz2 | love logo
bootsplash-3.1.4-2.6.7-mm4.diff.bz2 | bootsplash (remove the initrd line from grub or it'd lock up)
applies on top of love5, http://oneofone.limitlessfx.com/love-sources/2.6.7-love5-np-bootsplash.update.bz2
note, nvidia doesnt work for me with this patch but it seems to work for others so i decided to upload the update any way.

peace

Yep, I have been having the same problems with bootsplash with 2.6.7 past rc3. It doesn't like initrd. If you take that out of grub/lilo then you will boot up without a splash, but enables it when bootsplash gets started at the end of boot.

Issue discussed here ---> https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=190423&highlight=

Rob has posted to the mailing lists and I have replied that i have had the same problem, but no luck as to a solution :(.

BTW, Good to see Loves back!!!! :)

tried it, just for fun, but it´s a big harass. Only ´bout 5 hunks failing, but these i don´t get fixed (not all of ´em).
So, i´ll try and live with the original love, cause i´ve never felt any difference between nick and staircase and i´m doing this whole patching stuff just for fun.

BTW: thanx for the nice release folks ;-)

update about my nicksched + nvidia problems, disabling regparm and 4k stacks seemed to fix it for me.
anyone else could try and tell me?

@stahlsau you can talk to Nick directly on #love-sources if you join right now ;)

Compiled fine... Though I lost my framebuffer.
I've tried with both video=vesa:ywrap,mtrr,1280x1024x16@75 and video=vesa:ywrap,mtrr vga=0x31A
But it makes no difference, not even in dmesg...

Code:

extra patch compiled with 4k stacks works fine here, using brand new nvidia driver too.

ps if you have problems with glx on new driver run this

ldconfig
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32
ldconfig
CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE , log back in and glx will now work

Because of some pruning in the kernel tree, 802_11.h has been removed in favor of ieee802_11.h If you apply the patch from http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=4978396&forum_id=38938 and specify the files in their location in the kernel source tree. Then the only problem is that it will try to find the files in the ipw2100 directory instead of the one above that. Just replace the the files that include ieee802_11.h to ../ieee802_11.h and it works fine. Currently running 2.6.7-love2 with the ipw2100 driver running over wep. Thanks for all the work, I love love ;)

@ L124RD:

I don't quite understand your post - did ipw2100 not compile for you? Or does it not work? I made the patch for this love and it compiled fine here, so I assume you mean the patch itself doesn't work?

As I don't have any wireless stuff, I couldn't test it but assummed as I fixed the missing 802_11.h file and it compiled ok, it would be fine.

Can you clarify what it wrong with it please so it can be fixed for everyone?
:D

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The love sources I emerged failed to compile the ipw2100 driver (at least after patching the update, I never tested it with the original emerge) dictating that it could not find the file 'linux/802_11.h' I did a look first on the ipw2100 mailing list to find that this problem is related to the pruning of the kernel sources of unused files. The patch I related was from the ipw2100 mailing list which removes 802_11.h in favor of ieee802_11.h The patch from the ipw2100 mailing list did not do pathing correctly on some files, and so I changed it from ieee802_11.h to ../ieee802_11.h in some places. I hope this makes it clearer.
