I realize that several posts have been dedicated to this problem, most months ago. But I have been trying for two days to emerge kde and gnome with no luck. I'm getting the same "traceback" as those mentioned above, except mine is hanging at "freetype".
As a noob, I'm sure I've missed the answer in all the posts (and I've searched many). I'm clueless as to how to proceed.
