my current desktop, running e17, follow the link, thanx stroke for the http://knocker.sourceforge.net/shelt-e17-desktop.jpg

ok let me tell you...
top right - destop switcher epplet (recent snapshot dont have this, that's why i'm using the old one)

top left - just a desktop icon normally a link or file or folder in ~/.e/desktop/default (but if u use latest snapshot will be in ~/.e/desktop/default/.e_layout

bottom left - iconbar, wherever u want to put it depends on your bits file (the icon will animate, tranparently expanding when passing mouse cursor on it, look at my sylpheed icon forth from left)

You're welcome

Well I think you are one of the first guys who has actually compiled E17 on Gentoo.

If not I'd really love to see someone providing E17 ebuilds

I tried to compile it but Evas didn't want to compile. I guess I could have solved it, but I thought "meh, I have got better things to do with my time, I'll wait till someone makes an ebuild".

That's a pretty cool screenshot though.

basically lots of downgrade to be done, for instance, automake-1.4p5, autoconf-2.13, gettext-0.10.38, libtool-1.4. and also sgi-oss-glu, but i think installing sgi-oss-glu using emerge wont resolve problem compiling evas, instead u have to get it from mesa site and use rpm to install it. at least that is what i do. and dont forget ferite http://www.ferite.org

Hmm.. Sounds like it involves a bit more work than I thought.

I hear they are making progress though, so maybe we will see an official E17 sometime in the future. Around 2005 maybe :-)
