Hi gentoo guru's

Got some serious problems here:

I've used the upgrade scripts and followed the procedures on the page.

I've did an emerge -e world after the last script (the fourth) script.

After that I rebooted and logged into gnome as a user. While being in gnome the computer totally freezes! I was playing an mp3 with xmms and it got stuck!

SO i hardbooted my computer, i'am using the gdm login manager. After logging in the computer immediatelly freeze! So I tried to log in as root user., the same thing happened. So it wasn't a sound problem.

I think something went wrong while upgrading the whole systeem.

I unmerged every gnome package en emerged gnome again. No luck either, the problem still occurs.

Does anyone has a solution for this problem? I am willing to recompile the whole system if it has to..

thanx in advance

I have the same problem with gnome/gdm locking up. I get to the gnome intro sceen and my machine locks up. I did an emerge -e world too. I tried merging kde after the world rebuild. KDE (using kdm) also locks up at the intro screen, saying "starting window manager." If I run X by itself (i.e. "X &"), it doesn't lock up.

I've got a P3 with a geforce 2 mx card.

Yep, X just starts fine but when I log into gnome the whole machine locks up.

I am considering to recompile the whole gentoo system. :(
