I got a new nVidia e-Geforce FX 5700 Ultra to replace my ATI Radeon 9600 Pro and my ftp in UT2k3 and AA and both gears its less than my ATI was. My configs and outputs are in my sig (they are symlinked so they are always up-to-date). Someone please give me some guidance here. I've read through the gentoo nvidia guide and the official nvidia guide (text readme as well).
I'm expecting 4000~5000 fps in glxgears and at least 20fps in America's Army. The only error in my dmesg that raises any suspicion is this:
dmesg snip:
Code: | 0: nvidia: trying to map 0xd7e51000 to kernel space, but we're in an interrupt or holding a spinlock |
glxgears:
Code: | 5326 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1065.200 FPS
5330 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1066.000 FPS
5228 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1045.600 FPS
5294 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1058.800 FPS
5329 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1065.800 FPS |
fgl_glxgears:
Code: | 1079 frames in 5.0 seconds = 215.800 FPS
1109 frames in 5.0 seconds = 221.800 FPS
1099 frames in 5.0 seconds = 219.800 FPS
1110 frames in 5.0 seconds = 222.000 FPS
1045 frames in 5.0 seconds = 209.000 FPS |

do you have the new nvidia drivers and agpgart enabled in the kernel??? if u dunt have the new nvidia drivers do this in terminal: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel
IM me at: teddienv1ruzx if u dunt have aim pm me and ask for my e-mail o and i highly doubt that ull get 5000 fps i have a nvidia 5500 and that only goes 2000 fps on 24 bit color 16 bit color it goes 3300 fps maybe yer will reach 4000 o yea and another thing it doesnt matter how high yer gears are it could be powerfull and run games fast so play a game see if it goes fast _________________ Site: http://moth.homelinux.com/~archsvile

Haha no i didnt just buy the card for the gears. Anyway:
i have the drivers installed (x wouldnt start wihout it cause i have drivers set to nvidia in xorg.conf). also agpgart is compiled into my kernel. drm is off - are there any other kernel options i need to check?
Also please take a look at my xorg.conf and xorg.0.log to see if anything hints to what the problem is. _________________ Symlinks to:

You could try to use nvidias own agpgart instead of the kernel one.
Adding this: to your xorg.conf.
If you compiled agpgart as * in the kernel I think you have to recompile without it, or as a module |

problem fixed - the power cord wasnt plugged into the card so it was only running at 1/4 power. After I plugged it in (and removed the no check option from my X config which is supposed to warn me of such things), I got a little under 5000fps in gears =) _________________ Symlinks to:
