guys i swear i want reiser4 in as much as the next guy.
i use reiser4 and i can't use love-sources that much because of that, i'm dying to get it back.
but i want to make sure it works before i put it back in, we dont want our reiser4 partitions to disapear, do we? :P

peace

Errhhhmmm no we dont cuz they contain all kinds of illegal movies and stuff :P

Sooooooo we just wait for u to be good and put it back in :p
2.6.6-love4 still works so theres no real hurry :)

This is the best release in a quite long time. Everything works just fine :D

Well love-sources is fairly stable and responsive...due it uses the nick sched ..and well the first time it was known about reiser4 i guess,,,was the frist time i heard of love-sources..I like them...

btw...build my first livecd with reiser4 and 2.6.7-rc2-mm2 support and udev+softraid-detect:-) maybe this is useful:-)

I wouldnt mind losing my partition :P
Would you consider creating a seperate patch for reiser4 that
patches over love-sources? (dont really need an ebuild)

Hi folks,

my stylish logitech mx 700 (ps/2) is dead. well not really, but when i boot my love-kernel neither gpm nor X can find my mouse.
Is there a trick to get it working again. I also have a ps/2 keyboard, which works as always.

thanx
and keep the kernel running ...

tried it but will not work because the reiser4 patch must adapt to the nick vm work and the nicksched and that to much work i'm not so good like oneofone in c++..but a patch over 2.67-rc2-mm2 i can offer:-)

@rncwnd
take care the HPET time and IRQ time are enabled in your config in processor types and feat. and under inputdevices the ps2 driver

I am not sure if this is actually a problem with the love sources, but I haven't run into this problem with the 2.6.6 ones and with the gentoo-dev-sources neither. Basically, it boots fine until shortly after it has initialized usb hotplugging (that's pretty much the last thing I can see), after that, the screen goes black and I can see just the cursor.
If I type blindly, I can login just fine, it's just that I don't see any text on the screen. I can use gnome just fine by typing start x, though, so it isn't all that much of a problem but still I'd like to know what might be the cause of this. Any ideas?

How do i fix this?

Code:

  LD      vmlinux
fs/built-in.o(.init.text+0x109f): In function `proc_misc_init':
: undefined reference to `proc_schedstat_operations'
make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1

After that, if i try to build doing make again it starts compiling all the code from scratch as it nothing was built.

Would you consider creating a seperate patch for reiser4 that
patches over love-sources? (dont really need an ebuild)

okie dokie, http://oneofone.limitlessfx.com/love-sources/2.6.7-rc2-love2.reiser4.bz2 (patch -p1 it on top of love2)
not recommend :D
/me ducks
@BNoise disable "Collect scheduler statistics" in kernel hacking.
try enabling it, if its disabled.

peace

/me + c++ + pointers = bad mix :P

I have been away for a couple of months... Ok since 2.6.4 love sources. Now I am trying to go to this one and I can't patch the source. I download the Full 2.6.6 code and applied the 2.6.7-rc2 patch and then tried to apply love and get this message.

Code:

diff -Naur linux-2.6.7-rc2-mm2/arch/x86_64/Kconfig.kgdb linux-2.6.7-rc2-love2/arch/x86_64/Kconfig.kgdb
--- linux-2.6.7-rc2-mm2/arch/x86_64/Kconfig.kgdb  2004-06-03 16:43:39.1640  40784  +0300

File to patch:

I am patching using "patch -p1 < patchfile".

Thanks for you help.

Wuntvor

have you enabled frambuffer in the kernel? if you haven't - do you stil have a vga=791(or whatever) in your grub conf?

I know i've on occasion compiled a kernel w/o it, and discovered I can't read anything :)

need some hints here.

I am taking programming classes and currently finishing out my C# class so I used vmware with an XP vm and visual studio.

So... I been lovin the love sources for quite a while now.

Upgraded to this version and noticed now that when I start vmware everything else gets starved while it boots the vm and nothing performs well at all.... for example I happened to be doing a emerge sync while starting vmware and the vm, and the emerge failed with a timeout error. If I am compiling, it just stops while vmware is booting up the vm... This behavior has not been present until this version.

I am using elevator=cfq.

In the past I have used elevator=as with what felt like better performance over cfq. I see no change in the crawling effect of launching vmware when using elevator=as.

any suggestions?

No, you're right. Nick's scheduler and Staircase are CPU schedulers; CFQ is an I/O scheduler. 'dmesg |grep sched' will tell you which I/O scheduler you're using; the CPU scheduler is determined by which one got patched into your particular kernel. They're not selectable yet; any given kernel has one and only one CPU scheduler. Everyone gets these two confused, and it really irritates me for some reason I can't work out. :?

Ok... i know i'm using CFQ for I/O, what i would like to undestand is how can i obtain info about the "Processes Scheduler" I'm runnig. Is 2.6.7-rc2-love1 patched with Staircase and love2 patched with NICK? If Yes why????? :-)

Bye
thx

@BNoise: Set CONFIG_SCHEDSTAT=n and I think it will work. But I'm not sure how to do if you want the schedstat, it seems broken too me. Could be me though.
