Protocol Analyzer

Hello all,
I'm searching for a program along the lines of MRTG that will break down IP protocol usage i.e. http, https, ftp... I know most sniffer programs usually have a function of that sort, but I was hoping to get more of a monitoring tool that could run constantly and for an extended amount of time.
