Ok, I'm a newbie to Linux in general, but I've been recommended gentoo as my server-os, because it should be the best.
But, even tough I'm doing a total "by the book" install I can't boot Gentoo after install.
Everything works well, until my first reboot after installation. Grub loads fine, and then Gentoo starts to load, but after a while it displays a lot of error messages:
"Attempt to access beyond end of device".
I have done the installation 100% by the book 9 times, and the only thing happening is a lot of time going by, and still no working installation.
I'm guessing it's got something to do with fdisk, partitioning etc, but cant figure out what. Iv're tried on 3 different computers, and same result.
Ive tried to make fdisk not use entire harddrive, but I still get the errormessage mentioned above.....
What am I doing wrong ??

Have a look at this thread:

BTW, searching for "Attempt to access beyond end of device" on these forums results in an amazing number of results... you get your answer more quickly that way as well... _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |
