Hi,

i have got a gentoo 1.4 Linux with Kde 3.1 and Alsasound. Everything is working fine. But i have some sound Problems and want to now if it is normal.
1.> If i use xmms and get a PSI/ICQ message i cant hear the sound comming from the message ... but when one song is finished xmms stops ... and psi plays all the sounds from the messages. (sometimes it takes a long time to replay all the sounds.
Under redhat i changed the player in icq from play to wavplay and everything was alrtight. -> But no wavplay under Gentoo

-> But is it normal, that the sound server is busy with playing one sound.
(windows can playback more sounds at the same time)

2.> If i want to start wolfenstein and switched from one desktop to an other i cant play Wolfenstein without option s_initsound=0
can i change something to solve this problem ???
I only want to play Wolf but with sound :-)

Thanks
Gnirf

You bet, it's unplayable without sound, I tried!

How can you switch desktop while you play wolf?
