Just recently I took the SAT for the first time to see what I would get as a sophomore, and my score was quite disapointing: a 1020. I was just wondering what SAT scores other gentoo/linux users have gotten.

SAT == Scholastic Aptitude Test

It's used in the US to determine which students are more likely to do well in college. Higher scores are considered better, and a SAT score is a composite of an SAT verbal and SAT maths score, both of which go from 0 to 800 for a possible total of 1600.

I bagged a 1330 on my SAT, only to drop out of college because of the debt. It doesn't mean all that much.

I got an 1150. It's really not worth all that much in my field of study.

I took it once and I had something like +1230. About 600 for each section, did better in Verbal than in Math.

Anyway, I never used my SAT score, it was a total waste of time up until this thread.

1590. But it's really just luck what you get much over 1450.

I obviously never took these, 'cos I live in the UK. There were some tests called SATs though, which I took when I was about 11, but the scores weren't very precise. I got a 5 in all 3- English, Maths and Science. I think might a 5 be thought of as an A. 4 would be B, 3 C, and so on.. To get the chance of getting a 6 (the highest possible) you had to stay behind and do an extra exam, which I vaguely recollect not giving a crap about.

I only got a 960 on my SAT's, mainly because I got sick the night before and didn't have time to see a doctor or take any meds beforehand.

Weak sister. I got puking drunk the night before and stumbled into the testing area with a fucking hangover, and I still managed a 1330.

I took SATs, got a 1350 second time. Waste of a test, never used it for any college apps.

Also too the ACT, cold turkey, didn't know a damn thing about the test till the night before. Wound up getting a 33 (out of 36), much better than my equivalent SAT score, so I used that, got into my school of choice, and I'll be there in August.

Bottom line, SAT is dumb, don't waste your time. ACT is better, by far.

You don't always have a choice of what test you're going to take. However, the ACT seems to be a lot easier for a lot of people. I'd say you should take both and send whatever you do better on (or both if you do well on both) if the school will take either.

SAT isn't dumb, but I don't think it has that much significance for the about 60% of people who score in the middle of the range. The GRE was a lot more "dumb" in my opinion.
