prima smenttando non so ke ho combinato ma ora
quando faccio un emerge ad esempio
# emerge kde

potrebbe essere un errore del filesystem. in ogni caso prova:

rm /tmp/*
emerge sync

emerge kde |

ho provato a seguire le vostre istruzioni e ..
riemergendo kde mi ha dato i seguenti errori:
/usr/qt/3/include/qmainwindow.h: In member function `void
QMainWindow::moveToolBar(QDockWindow*, Qt::Dock)':
/usr/qt/3/include/qmainwindow.h:222: internal compiler error: Segmentation
fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.

prova a togliere le CFLAGS pkg e ri-emergere. Potresti anche provare un altra versione "~x86" di kde-base.

i segfault sono cose molto brutte.
le cause sono di solito, surriscaldamenti hardware, o memoria RAM scadente/difettosa.
controlla che il tuo pc non sia diventato un barbecue, poi riprova

hehe FonderiaDigitale mi sa ke hai proprio ragione
forse nella notte si e' scaldato troppo anke xke e' un 3ghz
per quanto riguarda la ram nn ho idea ne ho 768 ddr
xo nn saprei dirti se e' scadente o meno cmq ora pare ke vada

Prova a fare un memtest. emerge sys-apps/memtest86 e poi ti spiega come configurare il tuo bootloader, oppure metti il livecd gentoo e fai partire con memtest.
