I have very few games on my windows it is BF1942 + 11gig of mods, getting farcry, and getting BFV.
I have an amd 2700+ and 512meg ram . winex right???
How will these run on linux or should i keep my windows partition.(what do i do to install them and mods)
Let me check sumthing.
If i spend 2 days doing a stage 1 install i never have to do it again and to install stuff i type emerge gimp |

All three games *could* run under winex, but I won't bet on it. If you got an ATI Gfx Card, like me, you're lost. Their linux drivers are pretty bad an almost no game runs with 3D-Acceleration. You better keep your Win partition for gaming, performance-wise that's the best solution.
If you do a stage1 install, that won't keep you from accidentially destroying your system and having to reinstall. Which would be a nice side-effect, if I think about it. But unfortunately, it could happen that you have to redo everything.
And to emerge stuff, you'd have to type which makes sense. If you'd type 'emerge gimp', you'd obviously emerge gimp.
I'm guessing you wanted to know if installing things was just a matter of emerging them: yes, most of the time it's only that. Emerge takes care of all dependencies and almost everything else. Except for the specific configuration of the installed apps, that is. |
