When I tried emerge gnome, it show me this error message :

!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "x11-base/xorg-x11" have been masked
!!! possible candidats are:
- x11-base/xorg-x11-6-7.0 (masked by ~keyword)
!!! (dependency required by "x11-libs/pango-1.4.0" [ebuild])

!!! error calculating dependencies. please correct.

how can I fix this problem ???

many thanks

First off, are you intentionally using xorg instead of xfree86? If not, there's something wrong with your USE flags. Otherwise, try this (assuming you're using x86 architecture)...

Code:
# ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge gnome/xorg/whatever

That should allow you to emerge the masked xorg ebuild. If that doesn't work, search the forums for emerging masked packages...there are lots of threads about this.

How do i remedy this problem?

i tried it without the '--pretend' here's what i got
Code:
 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge =gnome-2.6
Calculating dependencies ...done!

!!! Error: the x11-themes/gtk-engines-thinice package conflicts with another package.
!!!        both can't be installed on the same system together.
!!!        Please use 'emerge --pretend' to determine blockers.

Usually when this happens to me I unmerge the packages that are blocked, then emerge the package again (in this case Gnome). Emerging Gnome 2.6 will reinstall it if necessary. It appears that for some reason the dependencies for masked packages sometimes need to be completely unmerged before the required version can be installed.

You should be fine, since the Gnome 2.6 ebuild will emerge any dependencies it needs. :D

That's because it's ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"

I highly recommend you read the accompanying documentation:
