Why ist Gnome 2.6 not stable ?

Hi everyone,
I was expecting Gnome 2.6 - it has been a while since the release and it is not considered stable now. Why is that ?

My guess is that the maintainers waits a little while, and makes sure that everyone can compile and so on. Or perhaps i has something to with the bug count. And 2.6 hasn't been around that long yet.

It's simple, the maintainers think that there are more people who have trouble with the stability with 2.6 rather than 2.4.

This question has been answered about fifty times in the last month, try searching the forums next time.
