Had some trouble doing this. Just a post in case it helps someone. Keywords: P35 P5K SATA DVD.
Couldn't boot any Linux cd/dvd I tried and couldn't get a bootable USB key to work. However I stumbled upon a little trick, I guess. First of all get yourself a copy of small gentoo X, https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-563186.html?sid=f5b3c33c9f59006b4fdeeb033ef15b43 , copy it onto a usb stick AND burn it to CD. Plug the USB key in and boot off the CD. Once the kernel is loaded off the CD it wont see the CDROM but will find a root filesystem on the USB stick. Your up and running install...
Hope this helps someone (lazy bastage here) |

Hmm. Looks like you went to a lot of trouble.
I just downloaded KernelofTruths small-gentoo for my P5K-e.

hmmm,i installed Gentoo on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 with my SATA DVD .
System is on a regular SATA disk and my /home is on a RAID1 configuration.
I only used the 2007.0 Livecd...
I had no problem booting off the cd without special tricks...
Are you sure that your BIOS is well configured??
I only used ICH9R SATA connector not the JMicron ones... _________________ War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength. |
