Стоолкнулся с такой проблемой: при переходе с X'вой консоли на любую из vc/1-6 теряется consolefont,восстанавливается перезапуском /etc/init.d/consolefont. Ну и при возврате на X'ю и назад все приходится повторять снова.

Советую обновить baselayout.
