Check www.quakeforge.net to see the improvements.
It seems the other release was 1.5 years ago, and there are LOTS of improvements. _________________ IM me at tuxisuau@jabber.7a69ezine.org |

Sound Initialization
Received signal 11, exiting...
IN_Shutdown
IN_LL_Shutdown
VID_Shutdown
Segmentation fault

what binary are you loading up? nq-glx? nq-sgl? a different one?
this might be sound related, but give this a try:
if you're using one of these gl versions and have a nvidia card, try executing opengl-update nvidia. you might try recompiling quakeforge after doing this, as well -- if it doesn't work after switching. _________________ [resident anime junkie] -- not just a linux freak. |

no, don't need to recompile the kernel.
hmm, probably is an audio thing since it doesn't work for any of them for you. you could try switching applying [code=blue]opengl-update xfree[/code] if it IS a video problem.
what are you using for sound? might try recompiling whatever you're using there and/or check you setup files. having problems with sound with other progs? recently switch to gcc 3.2???? _________________ [resident anime junkie] -- not just a linux freak. |

i'd say try it. alsa and also emerge alsa-oss. then rememerge quakeforge to take in account alsa.
i would assume sound is working ok with other apps (xmms?)
yeah, generally on-board sound can cause you problems and is also generally not all that well supported under linux -- just depends, of coarse. if I were you, i wouldn't be so cheap and get a new (separate) soundcard -- one that is known to have support under linux and such.
but shit, if you can get it to work somehow with what ya got -- hey, you saved yourself like $39 or so dollars.
good luck. _________________ [resident anime junkie] -- not just a linux freak. |
