Hello everyone.
Im new to gentoo.
I installed with the help of "Gentoo Linux 1.4 Installation Instructions" i did everything that the helper said.
When i reboot the system i got an error:
"Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel!"
I have suport for ext3 in the kernel!(static not module)
Thank you for the help! |

Have you already read all the threads that come up in a forum search for "kernel and panic and init and found"? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Do you have your kernel compiled with devfs support? You have to active "Code maturity level options -> Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers". And then, under the "File Systems" section, be sure to enable the "Device File System". |

What about the "[*] Automatically mount at boot" option? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

What do the five or six lines above that say?
I would verify that you are passing the right root=/dev/hd__ parameter. Make sure it's your root partition, not your boot partition. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
