I am having a problem installing modules on 2004.1 on sparc64. I have built the 2.4.26-sparc image and can boot it but
Code:
depmod -a

finds unresolved symbols in all the modules. The modules are from the same build as the kernel and System.map was copied to /boot/System.map-2.4.26-sparc. If I
Code:
depmod -a -F /boot/System.map-2.4.26-sparc

then I get no errors but I still can't modprobe anything. I am stumped. I have cleaned the kernel sources, wiped out /lib/modules and re-installed the kernel image but no joy. I have done this hundreds of times on x86 with no problems so I don't understand why it doesn't work.
Code:
$ diff /usr/src/linux/arch/sparc64/boot/image /boot/kernel-2.4.26-sparc
$ diff /usr/src/linux/System.map /boot/System.map-2.4.26-sparc
$ uname -a
Linux snigger 2.4.26-sparc #5 Tue May 11 01:52:21 BST 2004 sparc64 sun4u TI UltraSparc IIi (Sabre) GNU/Linux
$ grep "Tue May 11 01:52:21 BST 2004" /boot/kernel-2.4.26-sparc
Binary file /boot/kernel-2.4.26-sparc matches

Hi,

Try to install the newest modutils or module-init-tools using emerge.

Hope it helps.
